We are a Houston-based, foster-focused dog rescue. We save dogs by placing them in foster homes, and find them the right forever families while educating the community and supporting owners along the way.

A few things set us apart. We're education-first. We believe informed adopters and fosters make better long-term decisions for dogs. We also believe rescue should help the whole picture, not just the dog. That means supporting the humans too. We have a program in the works specifically for people in crisis situations. Stay tuned for more later in 2026.

Your time and your home. Caro's Canines covers veterinary care, food and supplies. Our team provides support throughout the foster period.

It varies. The foster journey could be a few weeks or could be a couple of months. We'll give you as much info upfront as we can and keep you updated throughout. We can also work with your schedule to figure out a plan for your foster dog.

Often, yes! It depends on the dog. We do our best to match fosters with dogs who fit their household.

Yes! We will figure out a transport plan in the Domestic U.S. if you are the perfect match for one of our dogs.

Check for a tag or microchip first (any vet or shelter will scan for free). Post on Ring, Nextdoor and local Facebook groups with a photo and location. If you can safely hold the dog while searching for the owner, great. If not, your local shelter is a valid option.

We're a small foster-based rescue without a facility, so we do not typically take in strays or owner surrenders and cannot respond to every request. We focus on pulling dogs from Houston shelter.
