  • We are a Houston-based, foster-focused dog rescue. We save dogs by placing them in foster homes, and find them the right forever families while educating the community and supporting owners along the way.

  • A few things set us apart. We're education-first. We believe informed adopters and fosters make better long-term decisions for dogs. We also believe rescue should help the whole picture, not just the dog. That means supporting the humans too. We have a program in the works specifically for people in crisis situations.   • Nope! We'll walk you through everything. The most important thing is that you're committed and communicative.

  • Your time and your home. Caro's Canines covers veterinary care, food and supplies. Our team provides support throughout the foster period.

  • It varies. The foster journey could be a few weeks or could be a couple of months. We'll give you as much info upfront as we can and keep you updated throughout. We can also work with your schedule to figure out a plan for your foster dog.

  • Often, yes! It depends on the dog. We do our best to match fosters with dogs who fit their household.

  • Start by filling out an application on our website. We review every application and reach out if there's a match.

  • Yes! If you have a specific dog in mind, note that in your application. We'll let you know their status.

  • Yes! We will figure out a transport plan in the Domestic U.S. if you are the perfect match for one of our dogs.

  • Check for a tag or microchip first (any vet or shelter will scan for free). Post on Ring, Nextdoor and local Facebook groups with a photo and location. If you can safely hold the dog while searching for the owner, great. If not, your local shelter is a valid option.

  • We're a small foster-based rescue without a facility, so we do not typically take in strays or owner surrenders and cannot respond to every request. We focus on pulling dogs from Houston shelter.
